Following Cllr Rosanna Taylor Smith’s decision to retire from Shropshire Council former Council Finance Officer and Ludlow businessman Anthony Bevington has announced his intention to stand in Ludlow North
Anthony Bevington has been involved with Local Government for the last 30 years, the vast majority of which has been in Shropshire.
He moved to Ludlow in 1991 and he and his wife Helen have been active in Ludlow events and with local charitable organisations for the past twenty years.
Anthony has been Chairman of Ludlow Round Table and is currently Vice Chairman of Shropshire Association for Sheltered Housing. He has a keen interest in vintage cars, and still assists with the Marches Transport Festival which has developed into the Ludlow Spring Fayre.
Anthony said: “If elected, I will be a strong voice bringing sound financial judgement to Council, fighting for scarce resources and making sure Ludlow residents get the most out of every penny.
I want to make sure residents of Ludlow get a fair share of resources. Through my work as Finance Officer at Shropshire Council I have strived to get effective services at value for money for local taxpayers. I want to stand up for the people of Ludlow and make sure their voices are heard and that they are treated equally with the rest of the county.”
