Philip Dunne MP has praised the work of volunteer group Pulling Together Ludlow (PTL) during the coronavirus pandemic, which has been recognised with National Lottery funding.
Almost £6 million of National Lottery funding has gone to more than 400 projects tackling loneliness and social isolation across England since the lockdown began, and Hands Together Ludlow was awarded £23,850 by the National Lottery Community Fund for its PTL project. This funding has helped PTL provide services to isolated and vulnerable people, through community volunteers.
The group has responded to some 1,200 telephone calls, helped deliver over 650 meals and collected many prescriptions and food shopping for local vulnerable people.
Mr Dunne said: “I have been in regular contact with organisers behind Pulling Together Ludlow since the lockdown began, and have been deeply impressed by both the scale of community help and the organisation that has been put in place to help as many people as possible.
This National Lottery Community Fund award of £23,850 reflects the sterling work of volunteers, and I congratulate everyone who has given up time and effort to help those in need in our community at this difficult time. This funding will help the umbrella voluntary grouping Hands Together Ludlow continue to support vulnerable people in Ludlow and the surrounding area.”
