In Bridgnorth yesterday over 125 local jobseekers were able to meet potential employers and training providers at a Jobs Fair organised by Philip Dunne MP.
Working with Bridgnorth Jobcentre Plus, Mr Dunne organised the Jobs Fair to help those looking for local work or vocational training find opportunities. There were over 20 exhibitors on the day, offering more than 100 full time vacancies, as well as part time work and apprenticeships.
Employers included Aldi, the Army, Coverage Care, Grainger & Worrall, Morris Care, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, SNG Barratt, and Veolia. Other exhibitors included Nova Training, Shropshire Council, and Enable, who support people with mental health issues into work. For smaller employers a Jobs Board posted 24 positions, including farm work, administration and roles in healthcare.
Mr Dunne said: “I was glad to organise another Jobs Fair in Bridgnorth, to help over 125 jobseekers meet local employers and training providers, with over 100 vacancies to fill. South Shropshire has low unemployment, but it is important that as many people as possible have the security that comes from a regular pay-packet.
It was particularly pleasing to see the enthusiasm the training providers had for helping people into work. One exhibitor from Enable, who support those with mental health issues into work, told me he had himself used Enable’s services. He spoke with passion, as someone who had been there and done it, about the transformative effect stable employment could have for those with mental health issues, which was really uplifting.
I hope on today’s news the economy continues to sustain record employment nationally, with just 3.9% unemployment rate, that we further reduce local unemployment in coming months.”
