Local MP Philip Dunne visited the new Keegan’s Care Home in Bishop’s Castle to celebrate its opening for residents last week.
Keegan’s has been opened by the successful management team that operates two other care homes in South Shropshire, Kevindale at Broome near Craven Arms and Caradoc in Church Stretton, both rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.
Keegan’s is on the site of the former The Grange residential Care Home, which had been rated Inadequate by the CQC and subsequently closed and was sold. The buildings have been extensively renovated and remodelled to provide 19 bedrooms currently, many with en suite bathrooms, with a further 8 rooms in supported living accommodation being finalised, which will provide 27 rooms, increasing Care Home capacity in South West Shropshire.
Mr Dunne said: “I welcome this investment in Bishop’s Castle, providing 20 local jobs initially and increasing both the number and quality of Care Home beds in the town.
I was pleased to meet the first two residents who moved in last week from nearby and to meet the first experienced staff who are also local to Bishop’s Castle.”
