Philip Dunne MP addressed a meeting of the Alveley Patients' Group in the village hall at Alveley on Tuesday 29th July at the invitation of Vice Chair Isley Jakeman.
Mr Dunne said: "I was pleased to have an opportunity to discuss the NHS in Shropshire with such a large group of interested local residents in Alveley. I was pleased to be able to praise the performance of the local GP Medical Practice and to discuss issues ranging from ambulance cover to the current consultation on NHS provision of A&E and community services through the clinician led Future Fit programme. We had a very good discussion with thoughtful questions, in particular about challenges of providing care on the border of the county."
Alveley Patients Participation Group is chaired by Barbara Smart and meets monthly to discuss issues regarding patients' care.
Barbara Smart commented, "As patients of the NHS we are especially vulnerable living at the edge of an administrative area. We have to rely on our elected representatives to protect our vital services, and we have many concerns about the changes which worry us. We are glad to be able to discuss plans and worries directly with our member of parliament and to hear a first hand account of proposals for the future."
