Ludlow North Councillor Rosanna Taylor-Smith has announced that she intends to step down from Shropshire Council on 27th January 2014 to spend more time with her family, including her three young grandchildren. In a public letter, she wrote:
"I have decided to stand down from Shropshire Council to spend more time with my family and help with my three young grandsons. It has been a great privilege to represent Ludlow North since 2009 and many of you before that since 2007 on South Shropshire District Council. Thank you to everyone who voted for me and also to those people who have helped me so much over many years and the hard-fought elections. I could not have managed without your help, support and advice.
I am pleased I have been able to help local residents by helping to set up the Ludlow Traveller, finding money to improve the state of local roads and securing funding for projects in Ludlow.
Thank you once again for allowing me to represent you for the last few years."
A by-election to contest the Ludlow North seat is expected to follow shortly.
