Ludlow’s MP Philip Dunne has welcomed a decision by Shropshire Council’s Cabinet not to press ahead with some of the new parking measures which could have damaged town centre trade.
As a result of amendments to the parking strategy made today, parking concessions for traders in the market square will remain, and parking charges will continue to apply until 6pm as is currently the case, rather than the previously proposed extension to 8pm.
Mr Dunne said: “I had made clear to Shropshire Council my view that the proposed changes put forward to the parking strategy were likely to hinder, rather than help, trade in the town centre.
So I am very pleased the Council has listened to my concerns, and the concerns of the many local people in Ludlow who turned out last night to protest against the planned changes.”
