South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne visited small businesses in towns across the Ludlow Constituency on Saturday to celebrate ‘Small Business Saturday’.
Mr Dunne spoke to business owners in Highley, Bridgnorth, and Ludlow, as well as visiting the Much Wenlock Christmas Fayre with local Shropshire Councillor David Turner.
Mr Dunne said “I was delighted to support Small Business Saturday when I was in Much Wenlock last Saturday. I was particularly pleased to be able to visit the bustling Much Wenlock Christmas Fayre which proved a very popular event.
The Government has quite rightly focussed on cutting red tape and making it easier for small businesses to thrive. Business owners I spoke to on the day all welcomed this support and reported sales continuing to grow as the economy recovers.
“I am keen to ensure that local employers take up the Government’s £2,000 National Insurance cut per business to help boost jobs. This can make a big difference to a small business looking to expand. I urge any business who isn’t sure to go towww.gov.uk/claim-employment-allowance to find out more information.”
David Turner, Shropshire Councillor for Much Wenlock said: “Much Wenlock's Christmas Fayre brought thousands of people from far and wide to our town. Local traders took this opportunity to promote their offer and it proved a most successful day. Late night shopping in the town will take place every Thursday until Christmas.”
