South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne is encouraging constituents to put forward nominations for the annual Countryside Alliance Awards.
The awards, nicknamed the ‘Rural Oscars’, celebrate the best of rural life, including food and farming, businesses, traditional skills and local people.
Nominations can be put forward by the public in four categories:
- Local Food Award
- Village shop/Post Office Award
- Farm Enterprise Award
- Rural Tourism Enterprise Award
Mr Dunne said: “These awards are a great means of recognising the best of rural life. I am pleased to see a Farm Enterprise category being awarded for the first time this year, to recognise the vital contribution farming makes to the rural economy and protection of our natural heritage.
The Ludlow Constituency is well placed to bring home an award, having secured regional finalists in the past thanks to the high quality of our local produce. So I encourage constituents to put forward their nominations before the deadline on 4th November.”
Nominations can be put forward online at www.countyside-alliance.org until 4th November 2016. Winners will be announced at the Grand Final in Spring 2017 at the House of Lords.
