Following the tragic death of long-standing Cllr Les Winwood, this by-election has been swiftly called by the Labour Party.
As this election is going ahead Ludlow Conservatives selected their candidate, Jonathan Holland. Jonathan stood alongside the late Cllr Les Winwood in this two-seat ward in 2021 and narrowly missed being elected. He would like to continue the great work Les did for the area during his 40 years as a councillor. He felt passionately, as does Jonathan, about improving the lives of local residents and making Bridgnorth an even better place to live.
The Conservatives have kept their promise to invest more in our local roads and public services and Jonathan is actively campaigning for improvements to the paved surfaces for those less mobile, cleaning up the streets and supporting high street businesses by resisting plans for full pedestrianisation.
Jonathan has the full backing of our MP, Philip Dunne who said "As the local MP I knew and worked with Les for twenty years. I know how much effort he put in on behalf of local residents in Bridgnorth and Tasley. I also know that he campaigned with Jonathan Holland, especially for better sports facilities for the young, and would regard him as a worthy successor. Jonathan is a really hard working family man, who runs his own small business making medical devices. Bridgnorth has been his home town for 10 years, and his wife’s family have lived here for generations. He is an energetic and enthusiastic father of two young children who is determined to stand up for Bridgnorth to ensure we get our fair share from Shirehall.”
Polling stations are open from 7am till 10pm
